Senior Men
The senior men (age 55 and up) enjoy a wide variety of events including interclub matches against various south island golf clubs and are also involved in senior open button match play competitions. During the year the senior men also host several senior stableford competitions which are fun events and a great way to meet other senior golfers. The stableford competitions are open to both club members and passholders (with a recognized handicap).
The senior men’s group shows a true spirit of competition together with a high level of sportsmanship. The competitions offer many opportunities to mix with fellow members and senior members from other golf clubs.
Our senior members are encouraged to recruit other seniors and passholders to join a very active club, and get involved in these very challenging competitions.

The Men’s Division begins its golf season with qualifying rounds for positions on the interclub teams - Willie Park which consists of 8 players and uses no handicap and Harry Young which consists of 12 players, by handicap and uses stableford points. Both interclub competitions are played on weekday afternoons/early evening. The Men’s Division also has many other competitions throughout the year including the Frank Gavin Memorial, Ray Harrington Foursomes and the Grant Rutledge Memorial.
The men also participate in buttons matches which are made up of two man teams playing best ball. The “handicap” buttons and “open” buttons (no handicap) are played at the Cedar Hill Golf Course. The “city” buttons matches (no handicaps) are played against other clubs within the Zone (the south portion of Vancouver Island).
The Cedar Hill Golf Club also hosts the annual Men's Cedar Hill Open – celebrating its 50th year in 2013 – which is held on the Victoria Day long weekend. Approximately 200 amateurs and 25 pros participate in the tournament. Past winners include Jim Rutledge and Gordie Scutt. The Club is very grateful to the many sponsors and volunteers without whom the tournament would not be the success that it is.
In addition to the regular golf season, the men also participate in a winter league from October to March. In spite of the weather and iffy course conditions, the winter league continues to a resounding success and also gives members a reason to visit the course through the winter.
